Offshore Precautionary Measures – Hurricane Dorian – Update

ExxonMobil has advised that they will now be removing all personnel at the Sable Offshore Energy Facilities based on the forecasted weather and sea-state conditions related to Hurricane Dorian.

Encana has advised that, based on the forecasted weather and sea-state conditions at their Deep Panuke Production Field Centre, they will begin removing non-essential personnel today. Encana will continue to monitor forecasted conditions to determine if further precautionary down-staffing is required.

ExxonMobil has advised that they will begin removing non-essential personnel at the Sable Offshore Energy Facilities today based on the forecasted weather and sea-state conditions related to Hurricane Dorian. ExxonMobil will continue to monitor forecasted conditions to determine if further precautionary down-staffing is required. 

November 8, 2018 Incident Bulletin Update: High Potential Near Miss/Dropped Object

The CNSOPB has completed its review of the high potential near miss incident that was reported by ExxonMobil Canada Ltd. (ExxonMobil) on November 5, 2018, click here to view bulletin) and has determined that at the time of the incident, ExxonMobil was not in compliance with Section 25(a) of the Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Drilling and Production Regulations. 

Offshore Helicopter Occurrence

ExxonMobil Canada Ltd (ExxonMobil) reported a helicopter occurrence with respect to a flight that was enroute with 2 pilots and  11 passengers to the Thebaud platform.

On July 24, 2019, a Sikorsky S-92 helicopter operated by Canadian Helicopters Offshore (CHO) experienced an unexplained drop in altitude as it approached the Thebaud platform. Once serviceability was confirmed, the helicopter pilots made the decision to return to the heliport at the Halifax International Airport with its passengers.

(Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada) – The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board’s (CNSOPB) Call for Bids NS18-3 has resulted in no bids. The parcels that made up Call for Bids NS18-3 are no longer up for bid and will remain as Crown land.

Board Issues Call for Bids and Seeks Written Submissions - Jun 2008

(Halifax, NS) – The Canada - Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) has issued Call for Bids NS08-1. The Call consists of two industry nominated parcels, one in shallow water and one in deeper water. Bids must be received by Thursday, October 30, 2008, 4:00pm Atlantic Time.

The public is invited to submit written comments to the Board on the lands included in this Call for Bids. Written submissions must be received by Thursday October 16, 2008, 4:00pm Atlantic Time. Such submissions will be considered by the Board before an Exploration Licence is issued.
