The CNSOPB’s responsibility for environmental protection includes ensuring both Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs) and Environmental Assessments (EAs) are conducted. SEAs are completed prior to Call for Bids on potential exploration licenses are issued, and EAs are completed during the application for approval to conduct exploration or development programs by either the CNSOPB or the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, depending on the program.
